Hold Me Close, Mother Earth

Hold me close please Mother Earth

Help me Father Sky

I’ve drifted from the good red road

I’m living in a lie

My Spirit’s wounded deeply

I hide beneath a cloud

I tremble like a child

In fear of thunder loud

I had a drink when I was young

It took away my fear

But robbed me of my spirit

As I drank through the years

I brought myself dishonor

I brought myself to shame

I brought myself to looking

For someone else to blame

Help me please Creator

For wisdom please to see

The cause of all my problems

All belongs to me

Hold me close please Mother Earth

Help me Father Sky

I’ve drifted from the Good Red Road

I’m living in a lie

Help me please my brothers

Who have fallen just like me.

I hear that you have changed your ways.

The Spirit sets you free.

Please my brothers teach me

The things that I should know

So I can hold my head up high

And walk the good red road.
